Privacy Policy

Tempered is built to be honest, and that starts with your data. This policy explains exactly what the app and this website collect, why, and what we never touch. The short version: Tempered analyzes your PC using hardware specs and program names — never the contents of your files, and never anything sold to anyone.

What the app sends for AI analysis

When you run an AI scan or ask the advisor a question, Tempered sends a compact telemetry snapshot to the Tempered advisor service so Claude can analyze it. You can preview the exact snapshot before it ever leaves your PC, on the AI Advisor screen (“See exactly what gets sent”). It contains only:

• Hardware specs — CPU model, core count, total RAM, GPU model, Windows version.
• Live metric numbers — CPU/RAM/GPU load, disk free space, uptime.
• The names of running processes and startup entries, with their resource usage.

It never includes:

• The contents of any file, document, message, or email.
• Your name, accounts, browsing history, keystrokes, or screen contents.
• File paths beyond the program command needed to identify a startup entry.

The advisor service is a server we operate that holds the AI provider key so you never need your own. The snapshot is used to generate your findings and is not used to train any model. A random, anonymous device identifier is sent so we can enforce free-tier scan limits — it is not tied to your name or email.

What stays on your PC

Everything else. The change log, settings, and metrics history live in a local database on your machine (under %APPDATA%/Tempered). Tempered makes no change without your consent, and every change is recorded locally so you can revert it. If you never run an AI scan, nothing leaves your PC at all.

What this website collects

• Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist, we store your email address to notify you at launch. It is kept in our own storage (Cloudflare KV), never sold or shared, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
• Contact messages. If you email support or use the contact form, we keep your message and address to respond and to improve the product.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request logs (such as IP address) to serve and protect the site. We do not run advertising or third-party tracking pixels.

Payments

Paid plans (Torque and Torque Max) are not yet live. When they are, payments will be handled by a dedicated payment processor; Tempered will not store your card details. This policy will be updated before any payment feature ships.

Your choices

• Use Tempered without ever running an AI scan — then no telemetry is sent.
• Ask us to delete your waitlist email or contact history.
• Uninstall the app to remove its local data, or delete the local database yourself.
